I was never afraid of roaches until I saw the biggest roach I’d ever seen in my life. I was just a little kid awake when I wasn’t supposed to be. I flicked on the kitchen light and there it was.

My memory could be exaggerating things, but it was HUGE. It made me deeply afraid. I think because of how alien it appeared. I ran back to my bed, where I should have been in the first place, and have been afraid of roaches and other large insects ever since.
